In 1989 only 1% of the total area had a nitrate value greater than 10 mg/L; and this value increased sharply to 48% by 2014. The significant increase in nitrate was only observed in a shallow aquifer with a 3.74% annual nitrate increase. Based on the result of the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) model the nitrate contamination is expected to continue to rise by about 2.64% and 3.9% annually until 2030 in agricultural and residential areas. The present study develops techniques for detecting and predicting the impact of land use changes on environmental parameters as an essential step in land and water resource management strategy development.]]> Thu 21 Oct 2021 12:51:15 AEDT ]]> Nitrate-rich vegetables do not lower blood pressure in individuals with mildly elevated blood pressure: a 4-wk randomized controlled crossover trial https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:32882 0.05) after adjustment for pretreatment values, treatment period, and treatment order. Similarly, no differences were observed between treatments for arterial stiffness measures (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Increased intake of nitrate-rich vegetables did not lower blood pressure in prehypertensive or untreated grade 1 hypertensive individuals when compared with increased intake of nitrate-poor vegetables and no increase in vegetables.]]> Thu 13 Oct 2022 17:10:46 AEDT ]]> The influence of coastal site conditions on subsurface effluent transport in groundwater https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20563 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:02:36 AEDT ]]> Regioselective N- and C2-electrophilic substitution of 3-substituted indoles (short communication) https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:366 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:42:37 AEDT ]]> Nitrification potential in the rhizosphere of Australian native vegetation https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:30898 Scaevola albida, Chrysocephalum semipapposum, and Enteropogon acicularis. Some Australian native plants inhibited nitrification in their rhizosphere. We propose future studies on these selected plant species by identifying and characterising the nitrification inhibiting compounds and also the potential of nitrification inhibition in reducing nitrogen losses through nitrate leaching and nitrous oxide emission.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:30:39 AEDT ]]> Enhanced removal of nitrate in an integrated electrochemical-adsorption system https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:34023 Fri 01 Feb 2019 10:37:19 AEDT ]]> The role of inorganic nitrate and nitrite in cardiovascular disease risk factors: a systematic review and meta-analysis of human evidence https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:33397 Fri 01 Apr 2022 09:23:04 AEDT ]]> The role of inorganic nitrate and nitrite in CVD https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:31134 Fri 01 Apr 2022 09:21:14 AEDT ]]>
